What is my next step?

Unless you are upgrading from a CAT C (old class 2/3) licence to C+E (old class 1) or from automatic to manual you will require the relevant provisional licence and pass a theory test.

Once you have decided which vehicle you wish to drive LGV or PCV or both you need to follow this procedure to obtain your provisional licence without which, you cannot drive on the road.

You will need forms D2 and D4 which you can get from DVLA or any VRO. If you have any problems getting these forms contact us and we can send them to you.

D2 is the provisional licence form and the D4 is the medical report that needs to be completed by a doctor. As we train so many people we have negotiated a special discount for medicals that we can pass on to our trainees. If you would like us to arrange this discounted medical please let us know.

Completed Forms

Once you have completed the D2 and D4 forms send them together with your car licence to DVLA.

Once you have got your licence why not book an assessment?

Theory Test

The theory test must be passed before a driving test can be booked (unless you are upgrading your licence).

The theory tests for LGV and PCV use different question banks so we strongly advise that you purchase a copy of "The Official Theory Test for Drivers of Large Vehicles" published by HMSO and available from book shops.

Alternatively you can purchase a CD-ROM of the same name from specialist computer outlets.

The theory test consists of multiple choice questions and a hazard perception visual test.

Passed? Well Done!
